I have a full colour card, 4in X 6in, with Billy McNeil kissing the European Cup . The card also has a short Bio on him. Caps , medals, year and place of birth etc. I believe it was made around 1970 or so. It is one from a set of 16 I think from the Shoot Magazine. I have 7 others. Bobby Charlton, Colin Stein, Francis Lee, Terry Neil, Gordon West, Alan Mullery and Ron Davis. I am writing here because the Billy McNeil card seems to attract the most attention, likely because of the pose with the European Cup as ne Captained the first UK club to win it. Any one shed any light on these cards.

Hi Guys
The general consensus of opinion appears to be that Jimmy Quinn's last game for Celtic was on 30 January 1915 v Hearts. I've just come across a match report of a friendly Celtic v Glentoran on 13 March 1915. Quinn scored in 3-0 win for bhoys.

Trying to get details of an old firm match played around late sixties on a Friday night. I think it may have been Glasgow Cup or a key reserve match. I recall it was raining and there were plenty goals. I believe it was not a league match and was played on a Friday due to fixture congestion. Can anyone help please?

My 85 year old mum has a medal from 1903 charity cup awarded to Sunny Jim Young. Her father (my grandfather) was from Kilmarnock and related to the Youngs through his mothers side, Acutually his middle name was Young to honor his mums side of the family.
Anywave, wondering if anyone can tell me more about this medal and the Celtic Match that day. Thanks much.

I am looking for help to find a web link to the history of Celtic scarfs ( I have tried scarves or scarfs searches without much success ). I have a Italian football friend, who supports Lazio ( I have taken him to Celtic Park) and he helps and runs a Lazio web / radio and is a fan of all football in general.
Here is his question ” ” “Next Saturday we will do a meeting about old scarves in our Pub. Can you find an article about scarves that I can translate and put on our site” ? I think anything along the lines of the very first Celtic scarfs, material, knitted, wool, silk etc…then when we first had joint team scarves in Europe, May be even Ghirls designed introduction of scarfs appreciate any help. Thanks. |

Hi There
I am looking for any details you guys may be able to supply on a specific fixture from 1912. The game I am looking into concerns my club Barnsley FC and was the last of the "Champions of the World" games that occasionally took place between the Scottish and English Cup Winners. The contest ended in a 1-1 draw and was held on the 3rd September 1912 and I would be interested to know if any photographs or match reports from the Scottish end still survive. Yours in Sport David Wood (Official Historian of Barnsley Football Club)

Hi folks,
I was wondering where the information about John Divers (1893-96 & 1898-1901) date of Birth came from. I had a relative called John Divers whose occupation is listed in the 1901 census as Professional Football player. He was living in Millerfield Road, not too far from Parkhead, at the time. I don't have an exact date of birth for him but I think it more likely to be 1874 or early 1875 than 1873. There is another John Divers born on 19 Sep 1873 in Glasgow who was living at Kerr Street in 1901, again not far from Parkhead, his occupation is given as 'Breaker Paper Mill'

How many league goals have Celtic scored in their entire history? Who scored the first, the 1000th, 2000th etc.? I am sure Bobby Murdoch scored the 6000th about 1973.
