I need to know when James Young served his suspension in 1905. Did he play Celtic's match on 28th October 1905 is my main query? Hopefully someone with access to line ups will put me out of my misery. Cheers.

Blairhall or Blairhill?

There are some entries in the Players A-Z which state that the player was signed from 'Blairhill Colliery'. In my opinion this should be Blairhall Colliery, a Junior club from West Fife which seems to have acted as a nursery for Celtic in the late 1930s. These errors don't come from any of the contributors to the Celtic Wiki, but date back many years, both in print and online.
In addition to the players listed as such, there may be others signed provisionally from, or farmed out to, Blairhall Colliery who were never called up or who never appeared in the first team.

Sorry to be picky, but this is a photo of Tommy Gallacher, Willie's brother who played for Dundee. From memory, I think this is cut from a photo of Patsy Gallacher standing outside a players' entrance with his sons on either side of him...

Just posted a photo of Gerry Gillan on the general photos page. Gerry started out at St Anthony's (1962/63) and was a Celtic player for two seasons (1963/64 and 1964/65). At the Ants he was nominally an inside-right, but seems to have played most of the important matches on the left wing. After being released by Celtic in April 1965 he joined Ashfield. Details of his later career are sketchy, but he had a second spell at St Anthony's, played one game for Hamilton Accies in 1970/71 (as a trialist?) and may have ended up at Yoker Athletic. If anyone has any memories of this player's spell at Celtic Park, or can fill in any gaps in his career, please add to this thread...

Definitely 32. Think it may be youth player Tony Watt, as he was suspended for old firm youth game yesterday. In the photograph of the team celebrating behind the Clydesdale Bank board, he is standing to the right between Wanyama and Mark Wilson.

Stumbled on this whilst reading up on something - Charlie is Gallagher - I have asked him and have it as that sihned by him in old autograph books.
Patsy is Gallacher - Definitely some sort of name change on this side of the water but it was Gallacher over here - weeshamrock ,Dianogah and I have visited Patsy's grave and even the headstone is Gallacher.

Its been interesting reading the books on some old celtic players of the past like Charlie Tully, Jimmy Deleaney, Dan Doyle. I wonder if there are any plans to write a book about the famous ex celt Malky Macdonald who was described by players and fans from that era as one of the most complete players ever to play for the celts.

does anyone have the definitive playing stats on Lex Baillie? There is a difference between what is on this wiki page and in the "Alphabest of the Celts" book. http://www.thecelticwiki.com/page/Baillie%2C+LexBook says 32 league games, 1 European Game, but 0 League Cup & Scottish Cup games, which i'm sure is wrong, but just checking.

Hi Fitzy,
is that bit in the Celtic Graves got the right guy though?
Wiki/A-Z of Celtic players says: Glasgow, 6 Oct 1909 (?) CGS says: Lambeth 29 Sep 1909
Seems he might have gone to St Aloysius College (Glasgow one I assume).
I'll amend it to the CGS, but I'll add a check box beside it.. Jerome Andrew Solis, 29 Sept 1909 Lambeth? NAME: Jerome Andrew Solis BIRTH: 29 Sep 1909 DEATH: Lambeth, Greater London, England DEATH: Jul-Aug-Sep 1974

Signed from St Anthony's I noticed there's no individual player tag for him in the A-Z . He played in a 5-2 defeat against Aberdeen August 22nd 1953.
Anything on him other than this?

Good spot, totally forgot about Mr. Zheng!
Do people think place-of-birth is the best way to sort Nationality on this page?
Also, I hope no-one minds me adding all the youth teamers and stuff. It might be better to keep it to 1st team players?
Thoughts?

This site lists Donald Watt in the "Never Played A Game" category. I'm sure he played in a Drybrough Cup quarter-final against Dumbarton in 1972 when the three other left-backs were all injured. I think he was taken off early in the second half with a leg injury (possibly subbed by Paul Wilson). Donald's first club, before being farmed out to Shettleston, was Eastercraigs Amateurs where he played alongside two other future Celts - Jackie MacNamara and Jim McSorley.

As far as I know he only played the one game for the first team. Even then it wasn't the full match; he was taken off after 53 minutes with a calf injury. As St. Anthony points out he played right-back - all three of Celtic's right-backs were unavailable that day through injury. He went to Dumbarton in the summer of 1973 and later played for East Stirlingshire.
