Stats

From newspaper report from the time.

First report

The Cambuslang opened their season by a match with the Celtic, from Glasgow. In the first half of the game neither side scored. Stott got the ball through in the second half twice, and the game, concluding without further scoring, the result was Cambuslang, two goals; Celtic, nil.

Second Report

Cambuslang kicked off, but Kelly interposed, and getting away on the right the visitors were soon in the neighbourhood of the home goal, where some neat passing took place, and Chalmers had to handle the ball. The Celts continued to have the most of the play, and two fouls having been given against the home team their goal was once more seriously threatened by a shot from Groves, which was just a trifle high.
A throw in took place in favour of the villagers, which was followed by a corner kick, but it came to nothing, the visitors getting possession, and taking the ball right down the field. After some general play, during which both goals had been threatened, a beautiful shot by Stott was neatly saved by McLaughlin.
The home team, however, continued to press, and it was some time before a long kick by Gallagher had the effect of changing the scene of action. Up till half-time no goals were scored.
In the second half the Celts had the most of the play, and won a hard game by 2 goals to nil.
