Celtic v Sunderland – Over 8000 spectators witnessed this match at Celtic Park, Glasgow, yesterday. The Sunderland had a strong team out, and in the home ranks McPherson of Cowlairs, did duty for McLaren, Coleman was also introduced on the left for the first time this season.

The game started well, and with great dash the Sunderland were the first to show up, and their combination was really good. Harvie scored the first goal for Sunderland after twenty minutes’ play. The run of the game so far was in favour of the visitors. Wilson, at half-back, twice shot into Bell’s hands, and exciting play followed.

The defence was sorely tested, but they managed to beat them back. Groves and Dowds got well away, and the latter beating Murray, had a clear goal, which he missed. Kelly was next cheered for a grand run almost the length of the field. The play still waged in favour of the visitors, who secured a second goal five minutes from crossing over.

The second half opened with the Celts attacking, and Madden got the ball through, but off-side was given and the point disallowed. The game was fairly even after this, but the play never slackened. Ten minutes from the close Madden shot a magnificent goal for the Celts, and five minutes later Madden repeated the operation, amid tremendous cheering.
