Report 1

Our Boys (Dundee) v Celtic – At West Craigie Park, Dundee.
When the teams took the field the rain was falling in torrents, but, notwithstanding, there was a crowd numbering about 6,000.
The Boys kicked off towards the north goal, and it became apparent at once that accurate play was out of the question. After some give and take play in the centre of the field, the Celts got south, and a fine pass from the left was made, but the ball was ultimately skied over. A rush by the Boys was smartly stopped by Reynolds, and a corner was then gained by the Celts, but Grewer, Shepherd, and Gold performed some capital work and relieved the pressure.
The front rank of the Boys, by some clever passing, carried the leather north, and a foul was secured near goal. Fendleton kicked the ball, which was sent through by Grewer, and a loud cheer rewarded the success of the Boys
The strangers now pressed and kept the Boys’ defence hard at work, but they replied splendidly, and watched the Celtic forwards so carefully that they could not get a chance to shoot accurately. Our Boys made repeated efforts to get away, but the Celtic backs held them for some time.
After both goals had been visited the Celtic came on with a rush, and Coleman made the game level. Now settling down to work, the Celtic in a twinkling surrounded the Boys’ goal, and Crossan within a few minutes put on two goals.
At half time the game stood – Celtic, 3 goals; Our Boys, 1.
In the second half, amid a heavy downpour of rain, the Celts pressed severely, and sent in shot after shot, but without effect. The Boys made strenuous efforts again and again to get away, but they were kept in check.
No scoring took place in the second half, and the game ended – Celtic, three goals; Our Boys, one.

Report 2

The Celts won the toss and Butter kicked off for Our Boys amidst a perfect downpour of rain. Gallagher repelled an attack by the left wing, and McLaren was cheered for a capital piece of play. From a combined attack by the Boys, Grewer scored the first goal with a low shot, Bell being unable to save. Nettled at this reverse, the Celts made a raid run to the other end, where Gold once more saved. The Boys forwards were speedy on the ball, and they were well supported by the half-backs. The Boys secured their first corner after 25 minutes' play but Couper shot the ball past. Coleman, after an hours' play, equalised from a grand pass, considering the state of the ground. Crossan, a minute later, scored the second goal for the Celts, who were now showing something like their true form. Crossan, in another minute, scored the third goal for the Glasgow men, the defence of the Boys having fallen off considerably. At half-time the score was:- Celtic, 3 goals; Our Boys, 1 goal.
On restarting the Celts at once led the attack, and never allowed the Boys a chance. A pass from the right across the goalmouth resulted in Crossan almost scoring. The Celts had the best of the game up to the close and under the circumstances the Boys did very well. The tie, which was played under the most adverse circumstances, ended in a win for the Celts by 3 goals to 1.
