From a Newspaper Report at the time
The meeting of these clubs at Inchview Park, Whiteinch, in the Glasgow Cup tie brought out a large number of spectators, fully 4,000 being present.
Having lost the toss, Paul started the game for the Thistle. Dayle was next to try his powers, but Gallagher intervened and transferred the play to the other end. McCallum nearly scored with a good shot. Shortly after this McMahon had a chance, which took effect and the Celts were a goal up.
The Celts continued to have the best of it, but owing to the excellent defence if the Thistle back division they could not improve their score. Ultimately the Thistle broke away and pressed for some time, but nothing came of it.
At Half-Time the result was – Celtic, 1 goal; Partick Thistle, 0 goals.
On restarting, the Celtic again took up the running, and McCorkindale was several times called upon to save his charge, which he did in grand style.
Ultimately Campbell put on the second goal for the Celts from a good pass by Madden. Play quietened down after this, although the Celtic pressed.
From a shot by Brady the Celtic got their third goal. The Thistle strove hard to improve their position, but their efforts were unavailing. Towards the close they obtained a corner, which came to nothing. No further scoring took place.
Final result – Celtic, 3 goals; Partick Thistle, 0 goals.
