Celtic v Clyde – This League match attracted 8000 spectators to Parkhead. The Celts had Davidson and Blessington on the right and Lee of Lugar, in the centre. The game started in favour of the Celts, the forwards immediately settling down to their usual effective dribbling, and forcing the Clyde back in the most effective manner. For a time the Clyde were compelled to defend, Walter and Proudfoot at back having a terrible amount of work. McCorkindale in goal, too was severely tested, but his saving was brilliant. Nothing came amiss to him, and he gave away corner-kicks freely when all else failed. The Clyde broke away, and scored luckily off Woodburn, the game at half-time standing – Clyde, one goal; Celtic, one goal. The Clyde played a more open game on resuming after the interval, but the Celtic still had the best of the play, but could not score owing to the brilliant goalkeeping of M’Corkindale, coupled in a lesser degree with the fine play of Walker, Proudfoot, and Cherrie. The Clyde forwards were more frequently attacking, but Neaves and Dallas were weak. Woodburn was their best forward. The Celtic wing play was excellent, but Lee was a distinct failure in centre. Kelly was in great form at centre-half, and fed the forwards to perfection. McMahon and Campbell worked their level best, but could not break the defence. McMahon managed it latterly after a great effort. Result :- Celtic, three goals; Clyde, one goal.
