Match report from The Scotsman, 6th September 1920

In the Glasgow Cup competition the Celtic gained an easy victory over Third Lanark at Celtic Park, Glasgow. The visitors, who had McCormack at right back, had the assistance of a strong breeze in the opening half, but failed to control the ball properly, and Shaw had very few shots to negotiate. Indeed, the best scoring attempts were at the other end, where Brownlie was thankful to concede corners from express drives by McInally and McLean. In the second half, the Celtic made full use of their opportunities, and within a minute McInally had Brownlie beaten. Cassidy headed through a second goal, and a few minutes before the finish McStay scored a third from a penalty kick. The Celtic, all over, were the superior team, and thoroughly merited their win. The attendance would be about 20,000.
