Match report from The Scotsman, 8th September 1920

The League game between Celtic and Motherwell at Parkhead, Glasgow, was productive of much fine play in which Celtic were easily superior. A keen struggle was witnessed in the first half, and both goalkeepers affected several brilliant clearances. In the second half, the Celtic forwards, ably led by McInally, were aggressive and the visitors' defenders had an anxious time. About twenty minutes of the second half had gone before McInally succeeded in scoring the only goal of the game. The Motherwell forwards fell away during the latter portion of the game, and seldom troubled Shaw. Attendance, 14,000.
