Trivia

  • This was John McGrory's debut at centre half.
  • Charlie Tully missed the game as he was making his international debut for Northern Ireland in Belfast against England. England won 6-2. Alec Boden was also out injured.

Review

What must have been something of a rip-roaring match against a team that Celtic had beaten 2-0 away not three weeks before, appears to be little commented on in newspaper databases and archives. Other reports concentrate on how debutant McGrory was unable to contain Clyde's South African centre forwardAckerman and was constantly being pulled out of position.

"Over at Parkhead, I saw Celtic figure in one of the day's surprises. They were overwhelmed by a confident Clyde team which exposed some glaring defensive weaknesses in the opposing combine. Wright, with a hat-trick, was an outstanding performer." (Scotsman)
