- Long term injured Sean Fallon was fit and back in the side; Mochan was still dropped; McPhail went back to left half with Walsh going to centre forward, Fernie moved over to inside left and Jimmy Duncan came in on the left wing.
- Bobby Evans played for the Scottish League against the Irish League at Ibrox on the 9th September in a 4-0 win.
- Bobby Evans was presented with the Player of the Year award from Celtic Supporters at the St. Andrew Hall. The award was presented to the player by Robert Kelly.
ReviewA poor game which neither team really deserved to win. Celtic should have been well in front before Collin' 87th minute goal from a rising shot. The forward line yet again failed to knit together and play looked OK until within scoring range where it generally fell apart. Duncan was seen as a limited winger. Peacock played well but was somewhat selfish. Fernie picked up a foot injury in the second half and played out on the wing. Walsh seldom eluded the Clyde defense. Fernie recovered towards the end and began a move that ended with Collins' goal. Haughney played well. Fallon started shakily just like somebody would on their first full game since April. McPhail and Evans did well but Jock Stein failed to impose himself.

Scorers: Collins (87)
