- The game was originally meant to be on the Saturday 13th February. Referee Jack Mowat arrived at Brockville at 1:45 and spent 45 minutes examining the pitch which had 3 inches of water over it in places. He eventually declared the pitch unplayable. There was a considerable crowd gathered by 2:30 when the decision was announced
- John Higgins came in for Bobby Collins. Bell was preferred in goal to George Hunter.
- By this time Jimmy Delaney was not getting a game for Falkirk and at 40 years old he was talking of retiring or seeing out his playing days in Ireland. Also ex-Celtic Jock Weir had transferred to Llanelli.
ReviewThis postponed game was played at 3-o'clock on a Wednesday afternoon.
Celtic came out deserved winners of this cup tie. Celtic were more direct and scored on ten minutes from a free kick on the edge of the area from Mochan. McFeat stopped the ball but it bounced out and Fernie got to the ball. Aikman scored for Falkirk when a pass from Morrison split Stein and Meechan for the centre to shoot past Bell as he came out to narrow the angle. Almost bang after the restart Higgins scored. A Tully shot was parried by McFeat onto the crossbar. Higgins and Mochan were following up. Mochan missed the ball and ran into the net but Higgins headed home. Mochan and Peacock had the best of the Celtic game but the defense had some hairy moments against a Falkirk attack in which Morrison played well.
