Trivia

  • The only change in the team from the one that beat Dunfermiline 4-2 in the last game was that Higgins was dropped in favour of McVittie coming back into the side.
  • In a sign of times to come both Third Lanark and Stenhousmuir held meetings with their supporters to discuss the financial situation at the club. All clubs in Scotland were beginning to feel a strain as the size of gates fell with a general increase in prosperity from the mid-50's onwards, opportunities for other forms of entertainment and the growing cost of both pursuing and attending football. Both clubs were in Division B.
  • Celtic signed Jim Kennedy from Duntocher Hibs on provisional forms.

Review

Described as a dull game. Jimmy Walsh's immobility seemed to spread through the rest of the team and east Fife survived a shaky start to come through with a 0-0 draw. Only fernie and Peacock were described as having decent games.
