Trivia

  • Played on the Easter Monday afternoon
  • With Beattie still out it was decided to give the young pretender of a goalkeeper Benny McCreadie an outing. McCreadie haad been swapping places and games with Bonnar in the reserves, and at one point ther dignified Bonnar was ready to up sticks and ask for a transfer till he was assured that he was still the No. 2 to Beattie.
  • Bertie Peacock was away again on international duty with Ireland in Italy. Neil Mochan again dropped back to left half as had been deemed the usual move. John Higgins was fit again allowing Collins to return to the left. At centre forward in came the forgotten Vince Ryan who had been out dropped since January and Charlie Tully was restored at outside left. The two losers were Eric Smith and John McAlindon.

Review

By all accounts Celtic were lucky to win by a late goal in a fairly even match of few thrills. They threw away plenty of chances to make this a solid win particularly in the first half when they started and finished dominantly.
