  • Celtic had four representatives in the Glasgow side which faced a Sheffield side in a floodlit game in Sheffield on 20th November losing 3-0. They were Dick Beattie, Bertie Peacock, Sammy Wilson and Neil Mochan. Also on the same night Charlie Tully played Ireland against the British Army at Leeds Utd.'s ground.
  • John Higgins, out with a knee injury since the beginning of the season was awaiting the results of his recuperation from the Celtic doctor, John Fitzimmonds, on when he might start training again.
  • With this result Celtic remained the only unbeaten team in the League.

Review

Hibs were somewhat upset at the start when after Bertie Peacock had fouled Lawrie Reilly outside the box, and Turnbull picked up the loose ball to fire home, only for the referee to call the game back for the original foul. Hibs definetly had the better of the opening spell but failed to put the ball away.
Celtic came back into it in the second half with Tully, McPhail and Mochan all playing well. Eleven minutes into the half Fernie gave away a penalty. Turnbull took the spot kick and Beattie made a double save to keep ity score-less. Immediately after that Celtic had their own penalty but it was not to be Fernie's day with his shot going wide. The goal finally came on 63 minutes when McPhail nodded one down into the area and Sammy Wilson shot home spectacularly.
A good game from two good footballing sides with plenty of incident and Beattie performing well in the Celtic goal.
