Trivia

  • The tour moved onto California from St Louis where the previous game was played. This game was played on a Wednesday evening at the Kezar Stadium, San Francisco.
  • Billy McNeill was fit again and played. He had sustained a head cut in the bottle fest against Bologna in New Jersey which had required 2 stitches and had sat out the last match in St Louis.
  • This was the second game against Tottenham on the tour. Tottenham had been incensed by Jock Stein's substitution of John Hughes in the first game in Toronto and would have been looking for revenge.
  • Jimmy Johnstone and Ian Young were both due to return to Scotland on the 6th June in order to be present at their weddings! This would leave 12 fit players for the games against Bayern Munich and Atlas.

Review

Bertie Auld was injured and carried off after 35 minutes with an ankle injury. He was subbed by Hughes
