- Game was arranged to give Celtic experience of playing South American sides before their World Club games with Racing Club of Argentina.

Review
Penarol impress with their fine ball skills but Willie Wallace shows he is the man for the big occasion with two goals.
Johnstone was so on form that Penarol had to put three players in his way at times to block his jinking runs.
Gemmell is now being mentioned as Europe's finest full back with his swashbuckling charges up field and thunderbolt shots.
