South of the border, ex-Celt Tommy Docherty, now manager for Chelsea, was suspended by the English FA for 28 days and promptly resigned as Chelsea manager. The punishment came from incidents during the club's pre-season tour of Bermuda.

Review

Driving force behind this win was Bobby Murdoch who scored two great goals with shots from outside the penalty area and generally drove the forwards on. His first goal sparked an all-out assault on the Hibs goal.
Only 1-0 up at half time from Murdoch's goal, the Bhoys came out for the second half looking for more and it took just three minutes before Wallace added a second. Johnstone then got a third before Murdoch added the fourth direct from a free kick.
