This would be the toughest of the games in the run in to the title – a tense affair that was open right to the end. The team were unusually nervous and shot-shy. Aberdeen played a strong first half and were more direct. They had chances to go ahead but failed to take them.
After the interval Aberdeen again showed a good deal of sparkle in attack and resilience in defense. The goal game from a misplaced clearance kick which eventually came to Lennox to score. With the goal Celtic visually relaxed and were unlucky not to add to the single goal. But it was enough to go ahead of Rangers by the one point putting the pressure back on them.
