  • Jimmy Johnstone limped out of the St Etienne game in some pain after receiving a kick in the thigh. He was considered doubtful for this game. He recovered in time and was ready to play along with Bobby Murdoch and Tommy Gemmell. All of them started along with restored Steve Chalmers. Willie O'Neill, Connelly and Clark dropped out with John Clark on the bench.
  • On the same day Celtic Reserves were at home to Dunfermline Reserves and defeated them 3-2. The Celtic scorers were Quinn, Auld and McBride.

Review

This was a hard-earned draw.
Jim Fraser put the Pars ahead with a header in the first half. The Dunfermiline defense held out well but in the second half Jimmy Johnstone equalised beating the goalkeeper after a long ball out down the middle.
Four weere booked in this game – Renton, Lister and Lunn for Dunfemiline and Johnstone for Celtic.
