Review

On a pitch which was a sea of mud Celtic took the lead somewhat fortuitously when the Arabs goalkeeper stumbled when collecting a pass back and Lennox was there to take advantage and score. The second half turned into a fair battle of a game and Dundee Utd equalised with ten minutes to go. Celtic came back and Hughes, who had been the star performer in the game got a second and just before the end Pat McMahon who was on as a sub for Jimmy Johnstone added a third.
