1971-05-14: Kilmarnock 2-7 Celtic, Frank Beattie TestimonialThis is a featured page

Trivia

  • The first game that Kenny Dalglish shows his undoubted talents.

Review

Celtic players and fans turn out for highly respected Kilmarnock veteran Frank Beattie. The fans, still celebrating the recent double triumph, cheer as Willie Johnston and Colin Stein go down heavily whilst appearing for Killie, especially when Johnston missed a penalty on 44 minutes.

But this is Dalglish's day. This is the first time that Dalglish has shown his full range of talents and the crowd is blown away by his awesome performance as he hammers in six goals. This was a sign of things to come in the forthcoming 71/72 season.
