Review

Celtic opened the scoring when McCluskey's near post header from a Provan corner was judged to have crossed the line.

United's new £100,000 striker Willie Pettigrew equalised with a soft penalty on the stroke of half time.

George McCluskey was fouled 30 yards from goal in 59 minutes and took a short pass from Danny McGrain before smashing a glorious high shot past Hamish McAlpine in the United goal.

United looked dangerous on the break and youngster Ralph Milne scored the equaliser with a 25 yard shot that Peter Latchford got both hands to but couldn't keep out.
