Trivia

  • Summer friendly.
  • Match actually played at Loftus Road and not Fulham's home of Craven Cottage.

Review

Varga was floored 18 minutes into the game at Loftus Road following a clash with Zesh Rehman, and stretchered off. With Bobo Balde suspended for Celtic's Champions League qualifying tie on 30 July, Celtic will be anxious to have Varga fit.

Celtic started strongly and were two goals up after 15 minutes, courtesy of strikes from Stilian Petrov and Henrik Larsson.

The customary reshuffling of personnel from both sides at half time made for a scrappy second half, during which Barry Hayles was able to set up Facundo Sava for the home side's goal.

A Hayles header hit the bar and Scotland keeper Rab Douglas made a great save to stop Steed Malbranque's volley and preserve Celtic's lead.
