Review

Dennis Wise, taking a free kick on the corner of the box caught Marshall unawares, curling a delightful effort around the wall and into the bottom corner with less than three minutes on the clock.
Not to be undone Celtic struck back in equally spectacular fashion in the eighth minute, midfielder Shunsuke Nakamura rattling a long range scorcher past the despairing dive of Marton Fulop. With two great strikes in the opening 10 minutes the relentless pace died down with both teams reduced to speculative efforts as the two defences looked to stem the tide.
However, with 21 minutes gone, Nakamura sent in a skidding shot goal wards which Fulop could only spill, but the Hungarian international then did well to smother the loose ball.
Celtic created the first opening of the second half, Maloney weaving his way into the box before shooting low at goal, only for Clayton Ince to save well.
With 60 minutes gone Richard Shaw – the man at the centre of the night's proceedings – was replaced by Matt Heath, the City veteran was given a rousing ovation as he departed the action.
On 66 minutes Kevin Thornton gave Coventry the lead with a great finish after a slide rule pass by Don Hutchison.
Liam Davis made it 3-1 with a fantastic finish from close range.
