Review

(Micanio of KDS forum)
Ross County wanted to win. We expected to win. That's the difference right there.

I've been loath to criticise the players this season, but that was utter garbage. Shocking attitude.

Forster – needs to stop think about the EPL and England. Rooted to the spot for the last goal.
Ambrose – looked on the verge of panic for most of the game.
Wilson – worse game of the season, but has been tremendous for the most part.
Gershon – I thought he did OK.
McGeoch – terrible.
Kayal – Only one who looked like they wanted it. Played as well as can be expected when everyone else around him can't be arsed.
Ledley – anonymous and weak.
Mulgrew – flukey corner aside, shocking.
Miku – 1st half looked good, unlucky not to score. 2nd half, vanished.
Hooper – apart from the goal, another one who disappeared.
Stokes – garbage. New contract? On that game, I'd have him out the door.

You have to give immense credit to Ross County. They played some lovely football on a farmers field of a pitch. Well done to them. Boo to us.

Ross County 3-2 Celtic: Wohlfarth’s injury-time goal helps home side claim victory over the SPL leaders

Goal.com

9 Mar 2013 16:55:00

The Parkhead side drop points for the third away game in a row despite stunning strikes from Charlie Mulgrew and Gary Hooper having put Neil Lennon’s side two goals to the good Strikes from Grant Munro, Sam Morrow and Stefan Wohlfarth helpedRoss County come from two goals down to claim victory at home to Scottish Premier League leaders Celtic.

The Hoops looked to be coasting to a comfortable win as a stunning strike from Charlie Mulgrew and a Gary Hooper chip had the Parkhead side two goals up.

The home side made two changes from the line-up that drew the Highland derby at home to Inverness CT last Saturday, with Martin Scott and Stuart Kettlewell replacing Ivan Sproule and the suspended Richard Brittain.

Neil Lennon once again rang the changes from the side that fell to defeat at Juventus, with Efe Ambrose, Rami Gershon, Dylan McGeouch, Miku and Anthony Stokes coming in for Adam Matthews, Emilio Izaguirre, Victor Wanyama, Georgios Samaras and Kris Commons.

With quarter of an hour gone the visitors took the lead in somewhat bizarre fashion, after Grant Munro headed an Efe Ambrose effort out for a corner, which Mulgrew took and whipped straight over keeper Michael Fraser and into the net.

The pressure continued from the visitors, with Miku making his way through the middle of the Ross County defence, but this time Fraser was on hand to save easily.

The Hoops extended their advantage just six minutes after taking the lead, McGeouch playing the ball back to Hooper after making his way down the right allowing the English striker to finish off the move by chipping Fraser.

Just after the half-hour mark the home side did get back into the game, as Kelvin Wilson could only clear the ball into the path of Munro and the Staggies defender unleashed a strike past Forster and into the back of the net.

And with 10 minutes left in the first half Ross County got level as Iain Vigurs swung a cross in for Morrow and after his first attempt was blocked, the striker fired the ball home at the second time of asking.

On the stroke of half-time Celtic had a chance to go back into the lead, but Stokes failed to make anything of the chance as both teams went in level at the break.

Both sides had opportunities from free kicks in the opening five minutes of the second half, but Mulgrew and then Vigurs for the hosts were way off target.

Celtic almost handed Ross County the lead as Ambrose failed to clear properly, allowing Scott in on goal. But Forster came to the rescue, saving his centre-back's blushes as he came out to collect the ball.

With less than 10 minutes in the game remaining Derek Adams' side had a chance to claim all three points as substitute Wohlfarth sent an effort wide of goal.

But Wohlfarth atoned for his error in stoppage time as he got in behind the defence to head home a dramatic winner and send the crowd into raptures.

Ross County leapfrogged rivals Inverness into third place, while Celtic remain well ahead of the chasing park and are still 15 points clear of Motherwell.

A stunning fightback from two goals down gave County the win, extending their unbeaten run to 11 games.

Charlie Mulgrew and and Gary Hooper gave the champions elect a two-goal lead inside 20 minutes and the writing looked to be on the wall.

But the script was torn up by Grant Munro and Sam Morrow who levelled before the break.

Substitute Steffan Wolfarth nodded an injury-time winner to seal a stunning win for the Staggies.

Neil Lennon made a number of changes from the side who fell to Juventus in midweek but he was confident they could deliver a win that would see his side creep closer to the title.

It looked to be heading that way when Charlie Mulgrew delivered an in-swinging corner on 16 minutes.

The ball eluded everyone, including Michael Fraser in the County goal, and sneaked in at the back post.

If questions were being asked of the goalkeeper for the opener, the fingers were being pointed at him for the second.

Gary Hooper picked up the ball from Dylan McGeough and delicately chipped over Fraser from the angle on the right.

The striker celebrated, but Fraser's head was in his hands.

Most of the 6,031 inside the ground thought the contest might well be over, but not those in dark blue jerseys.

Grant Munro volleyed in a stunner after controlling the ball on his chest 25 yards out and that gave the home side hope.

Sam Morrow levelled at the back post just six minutes later after industrious work on the right from Iain Vigurs.

Celtic looked stunned but County continued to swagger and kept up the pressure.

Vigurs and Hooper both had chances to win it but, as the clock ticked down, it looked like a share of the points.

But, a minute into injury time, substitute Steffan Wolfarth nodded over Fraser Forster after a mix up in the Celtic defence to send the home fans wild and the champions back down the A9 to wonder what might have been.
