Celtic Career Review

A left sided Glaswegian CBCer given an ‘x-form’ contract after starring in Scotland’s march to the 1989 U16 World Cup final.

He spent the following year with the youths and reserves and playing with Giffnock North (as was the fashion) before being handed a pro contract in July 1990. He was then loaned to Irish outfit Ballyclare Comrades before being released in May 1991 and heading to St Mirren. A couple of years at Love Street preceded a move to Albion Rovers via short trial stints in Finland and with Ayr United.

After leaving Rovers in 1995 Jim enjoyed a long and productive career in the ‘Junior’ ranks with Petershill. Overcame Hodgkin’s Disease aged just 27 to resume his playing career with ‘Peasy’.

Later moved into coaching and served as Assistant Manager at Bellshill Athletic.

Passing Away

Sadly in later life, he was struck down by motor neuron disease (MND) which he battled for a few years before passing away in August 2022. RIP

Petershill FC

@PetershillFC

Jim was a terrific servant to Petershill, playing with us for over 10 years and winning several honours and player of the year awards. And all this while beating cancer too. As well as being a great player he was one of the nicest folk you could ever hope to meet. RIP Jim.
