Goalkeeper Robert Boyle's brief Celtic career saw him make 10 appearances for the boys in his only season at the club (1912/13).

He signed for the Bhoys from junior outfit Cowie Wanderers at the begining of the trophyless 1912/13 campaign and made his debut on September 30th 1912 in a 3-2 victory at Partick Thistle. He had a poor record in his time in goal, with just the one league shut-out match. He was said to have had a very poor match against Rangers in the Glasgow Cup Final at Hampen before 80k fans, and was said to have conceded two soft goals. So the writing was likely on the wall.

He left at the end of the season and joined Alloa.

He later moved to the US and played professionally there. He later served with the Canadian Field Artillery in France during the First World War.
