Michael Cairns was born in Ireland. He was a writer (lawyer), and father a tailor

He was on the first celtic commitee

In 1890, he stood for election in the 10th ward, but before the election pulled out the race. He latterly wroter a letter to the Herald complaining about the inference that Celtic was involved him his political life
