Walfrid StatueThe Charitable ethos of the club & its support

When the idea of Celtic Football Club was born in 1887 it was primarily seen as a means to raise vital funds to feed and cloth the impoverished Irish immigrants in Glasgow's East End.

Since then Glasgow, football and Celtic have changed in many ways and although charity is no longer the prime focus of Celtic FC, the club and its supporters remain keen in supporting the spirit of giving which saw the formation of the club.

The ethos and culture of the club is such that it is not only the club but the myriad of supporters groups that carry on the strong activity in charitable circles, the honesty and generosity of heart which got the club off the ground so many years ago is still helping the less fortunate around the world today.
