The Bhoy Who Would be KingA rather cruel start to this one as Henrik is reminded of his first contribution in a Celtic jersey. A perfect pass to Chic Charnley who gratefully accepted the pass and hit a sweet left foot shot into the Celtic net to give Hibs a 2-1 win and a less than auspicious start to our hopes of stopping the 10. Even Chic is given time to describe the moment. It was probably the only thing Henrik did wrong in his 7 years at Celtic Park. A player who it was a privilege to see in the hoops and I’ll always be grateful I was around to see him. The greatest player seen in the hoops since Dalglish in the 70s.

There is an extensive interview with Henrik running through this as he deals with different subjects such as scoring against Rangers, playing for Sweden and with the filming taking place during season 2003/04 they discuss his forthcoming departure from Celtic Park. As much as Henrik was a fantastic player he isn’t the most interesting of people to interview but he is clearly still pained by that night in Seville. He states he may never get that chance again but fortunately a few years later he was to lift the Champions league trophy with Barcelona.
Of course the bulk of the DVD is made up of Henrik doing what Henrik does best, scoring goals and there’s plenty of them to enjoy. There’s also a section on Henrik the provider, a part of his game often overlooked. This is typified by Sutton goal against Lyon who runs towards Henrik after the goal and you can clearly lip read Sutton saying ‘What a ball’.
You almost forget how good Henrik was as time fades. You remember he was brilliant but when you see the action again you start to remember how brilliant he was, a truly world class player. He also had a stellar cast supporting him. The likes of Sutton, Hartson, Thompson, Lubo and Petrov amongst others remind you of what a great team we had at that time and for many that will be our equivalent of the Lisbon lions.
This DVD may be trumped by the Total Larsson release which I’ve yet to see but this is a great way to remember the King of Kings.
