Biog

An 18 year-old defender brought to the club on an intial 3 month loan from Torquay United in October 2000.

Was a big, powerful kid with all the physical qualities Martin O'Neill looked for in his centre backs, but the club appeared unsure and the loan was extended in January before he returned to Torquay in March. He had been playing for the Youths and the under 21s. At the time, opportunist Torquay boss Wesley Saunders claimed: "Celtic want to keep Troy but it is a matter of how much they want to pay for him."

He hailed from the Midlands and may have originally been turned up by MoN's scouts while the Irishman was at Leicester City.

Since returning Douglin never established himself at "the gulls," trialling with Hereford in February 2003 and eventually reverting to Non League stuff in the Midlands. Spent time coaching kids in America and with the assistance of the PFA he went to University in Wolverhampton and Birmingham to train as a physiotherapist.

Cruelly branded "Dr. Trueman" by Tipton Town teammates, after an erstwhile Eastenders character.
