BiogWillie Duncan - Celtic Goalkeeper 1910

Kilsyth-born keeper Willie Duncan played nine times for Celtic while on loan from Airdire. He was loaned by the Bhoys in March 1910 after regular custodian Davy Adams went down with pneumonia.

He made his debut in a 2-0 league win at home to Third Lanark on March 16th. The big keeper impressed on that day and he certainly played his part during the remainder of his stay in helping the Bhoys claim their sixth championship title in succession.

He had a remarkable record in his short stint of 6 shut-outs in his 9 league matches.

He returned to Airdrie at the end of the season and later went on to be a fine performer for St Mirren.

Later moved to the US and played for and coached sides there. He won the US National Championship with Bethlehem Steel in 1917-18, and by 1922 was playing at Fall River.
