European Tour 1907

Celtic’s third European tour since their inaugural in 1904 saw them swap central Europe for Denmark.

Previously Willie Maley and the Bhoys had travelled to Austria, Czechoslovakia and Germany. The tours in 1904 and 1906 had proved to be succesful and ever keen to promote Celtic in new countries the Hoops headed north in 1907, for the summer to play three games in Copenhagen.

First up was Boldklubben 1893 who Celtic comfortably defeated by 5-2. However next up were a Kobenhaven Select side and the hosts shocked the visitors by snatching a 2-1 victory. It was the first time that Celtic had suffered a tour defeat.

The Hoops did not have to wait long for revenge however. In the third and final game of the tour Celtic once more faced the Kobenhaven Select side and this time the Bhoys emerged 4-2 victors.
