Fathers and Sons who have played for Celtic - The Celtic WikiOverview

A brief list of all those players who have either had a father or son who have both played for the Celtic First Team.

Interestingly, four sets of the players share the same Christian name.

Gordon Marshall Snr is quite possibly unique in that he and his two sons all played for Celtic.

Another unique one was Gordon Strachan and his son Gavin Strachan. Gordon Strachan was Celtic manager for 4 years, and Gavin Strachan was many years later a part of the Celtic coaching staff and was made an interim manager for a couple of games in early 2021 during the covid-19 pandemic.

It’s not just the boys anymore. On 5th June 2021, ex-Celtic player Mark Burchill‘s daughter Tiree Burchill made her Celtic debut for the Ladies team v Motherwell.

Notes:

(1) The above relates only to Fathers and Sons who have played for Celtic’s first team in a major competition game (i.e. Europe, league, League Cup or Scottish Cup) and not just a friendly.

(2) Celtic Great Kenny Dalglish’s son Paul Dalglish played for Celtic as a Youth Player but he never played for the First Team.

(3) Ryan Christie’s dad (Simon Christie) was also on Celtic’s book but never got to play for the first team.
