Biog[Untitled]

Carronshore born Cornelius Ferguson made two senior appearances as a Celt in the wartime Regional League set-up.

The hard-tackling left-half joined the Bhoys on loan from Alloa (Willie McStay's old club) and made his debut in a 2-2 draw at Hamilton Academicals in August 1940.

He seemed to be a welcome capture as he was described to have a great footballing ability: "I have never seen a wing-half coming out so often with the ball after a tackle than Neilly Ferguson".

His brief spell at Parkhead came to an end when he joined the RAF in 1941.

He returned to Alloa after the war, and the later retired to concentrate on his business as a grate-builder.
