Biog

An Italian under-16 international goalkeeper trialled then taken on in summer 2008. He had been attached to Lecce for the previous four years.

He made his representative debut in a reserve friendly against Albion Rovers, part of a team featuring disgruntled duo Thomas Gravesen and Derek Riordan. Tall but very slight, Giordano acquitted himself well and went into contention in the youth team.

In the intervening years Daniele bulked up considerably, so much so that at one point he was said to resemble "a circus strong man." He has also faced stiff competition for places from young Scots Thomson and Kennedy, which might serve him well as he now battles for 'development team' spots against Cervi and Zuluska.

He was loaned to Montrose during the 2010/11 season, making three starts for them.

He moved at the end of his contract back to Italy and was last heard of playing for Perugia.

Tweed keeps Mum over Giordano

Tuesday 26th October 2010
Montrose boss Steven Tweed. Who is normally one of the most open managers in the Scottish game, decided to keep quiet last week as he looked to pull a fast one on neighbours Arbroath in their Scottish Cup tie at Links Park. Tweed spent several days working on a deal to bring Celtic back up goalkeeper Daniele Giordano to the club on loan and when the paperwork was complete Tweed kept mum. The Links Park manager said, “I knew that this would be a really close game and springing a surprise of having a Celtic player in on loan may just have given us a wee edge on Paul Sheerin’s team. Daniele came in and did really well, however with the game requiring a replay this Saturday the element of surprise has gone.”
