Another sad but powerful angle to Davie’s story which casts him in an even brighter light.
Davie brought up his five kids alone from the age of 33 when his wife Mary Ann died. Mary died of tuberculosis aged just 33 and the mother of 5 children.
This is her death certificate showing Davie as a professional footballer.

This photo must have been taken not long before she passed away and features the entire Hamilton family.
We suspect that Davie will have bought the lair in Dalbeth to lay Mary Ann to rest where he now lies.
