Young Australian Will Hastie was spotted by Celtic while on a trip to Scotland with the Australia Under 16 squad in 1989.

The midfielder would force his way into the reserve team but ulitmately never made the grade at Celtic Park and was eventually released in August 1991 without making a first team appearance. He would move on to Dundee before crossing the Irish sea to sign for Sligo Rovers. Will made around 70 appearances in his three seasons with Rovers, during which time he won the Treble in 1993/94 and played four games in the 91/92 European Cup Winners Cup. During his time in Ireland Will formed a firm bond with the Sligo club and the area which appears to endure to this day.

After his spell in Ireland Will returned home to Australia and enjoyed stints at various NSL sides including Canbera Cosmos and Gippsland Falcons with who he made around 80 appearances.

Having completed a Business degree Will is currently involved in sports marketing and working for Professional Fottballers Australia (PFA) where, among other tasks, his role is to assist players to develop their careers both on and off the pitch.
