Biog

The last player signed by Tommy Burns, in 2008. Hughes spent 2007-08 as a regular in Rochdale's reserve team, despite being a year 11 pupil at school. He trialled with Liverpool in January 2008, but Celtic won the race for his signature - on a three year contract for a £75,000 fee and a promise for a friendly fixture.

Hughes sat out most of his first season and a half with Celtic, with damaged ankle ligaments and a double hernia. He returned to skipper the U19s to a double in 2009-10.
