Peter MacDonald was a defender who never played a first team game for Celtic. He came from Bishopbriggs and had studied at Turnbull High School.

Celtic Career Review

Through season 1994-95 he was in the U18 squad as 'Trialist' at the start of the season and taken onto the squad in October, with a contract to July '96, playing for them or the Youth team throughout the season. His preferred position was as a central defender but he was also played at right back.
He started the following season sidelined with a broken foot but recovered to make the U18 side again, making occasional sub appearances with the Reserves. He went with an understrength (most were 16) U18 side to the Aerofoot International Youth Tournament in France in May 1995
Given an extra year on his contract hew moved up to the Reserves through 1996/97 but had some time out through the season with a hernia and a knee ligament injury. He continued through 87/98 winning a new 2 year deal as a mainstay defender for the Reserves.
He joined the first team squad on the two game pre-season trip to Holland playing in both games before reverting to the U21 side which had taken over from the Reserve League. During this season he suffered from a muscle injury which eventually required surgery and recuperation time keeping him out of games from October to March 1999.
He was released at the end of the 1998/98 season along with a host of other Reserve and Youth team players.

Playing Career

Peter MacDonald was known to have had a trial with Clydebank at the end of the 1998/99 season but he does not seem to have gone on to play for them.
It has not been possible to track his post Celtic career.

He is not to be confused with Peter MacDonald who was a Rangers Youth player and currently (Spring 2009) plays for St Johnstone.
