Biog

Youth team goalie brought in from Renfew BC. Played in the victorious 1986/87 BP Youth Cup campaign, and the following season's exit at the Quarter Final stage.

Released and began the next season with Blantyre Victoria Juniors, but was soon snapped up by Stirling Albion. Became a cult figure and hailed as "the best part-time goalkeeper in Britain" during an 11-year association with 'the binos'. Had a testimonial against a Rangers X1 in July 1998.

He hit the headlines in 1997 after scooping prizes worth £30,000 on TV's 'The Price is Right'. His wife's workmates claimed there was a prior agreement to share the bounty and an unseemly legal battle was finally settled in McGeown's favour in 2001.

By this time Mark had spent part of 98/99 on loan at Raith, then moved on to Stranraer that summer. After 3 years he joined the needlessly exhumed Airdrie United, where he spent another 3 years as the recognised number 1.

In 2005 Mark switched to Ayr United and yet another 3 seasons between the sticks. By now a grizzled veteran of SFL football, Dumbarton came calling in 2008 but McGeown was dropped mid-season then released in the summer.

An SOS from Queen of the South saw McGeown warm their bench as cover for injuries, then in February 2010 he joined Queen's Park – only a few months shy of his fortieth birthday.
