Biog
A tough centre-half Vincent McGrogan signed for Celtic from Largs Thistle in January 1925 and made his debut in a 7-0 league victory over Third Lanark at Parkhead on the 5th of that month.
His often overtly robust approach to the game meant he was frequently penalised by referees. As one said: "McGrogan requires some subduing". In one match in Jan 1925 v Motherwell, he was sent to have an early bath after trying to maim Hugh Ferguson. On the hearing over the incident, a crowd gathered outside the offices, some baying for the blood of the referee (Dougray) who had ordered off Vinny McGrogan, whilst the rest were Third Lanark fans.
He made just six appearances for Celtic before suffering a knee injury in February 1925 from which he would never fully recover from.
He left the Hoops in 1927 having never played another first team game for them.
