BiogMurphy, James - Pic

Jim Murphy was an inside left signed by Celtic in April 1921 from East Kilbride Thistle, and was seen as a neat tackler

The Hamilton-born player made his Bhoys debut on September 23 1922 when Celtic defeated Dundee 1-0 in a league clash at Parkhead. It was a dream occasion for Murphy who scored the only goal of the game in the dying minutes.

That was to be the highpoint of his Parkhead career. After loan spells at Clydebank and Ayr he was transferred to United in the summer of 1924.
