Biog
Former
Campsie FC outside-right Michael Murray enjoyed a brief spell with
Celtic reserves in 1890 before returning to the club in May 1892 from
Glasgow Hibernian.
He made his first team competitive debut in a
4-3 league victory over Renton at Parkhead on August 20th 1892. He made
just one further appearance for the first team before joining Abercorn
in August 1893.
He played against Celtic in a 4-3 win on 11 Feb 1893 for Abercorn. The
Abercron fans were going wild having won the game until Johnny Madden
quipped: "The way you're going on, you'd think you'd won the Cup!". The
mood apparently turned ugly, Johnny Campbell knokced a spectator's tooth
out and Jerry Reynolds was arrested for the same assault. Not known
what Mick did!
Mick later became a successful publican in Lennoxtown & Kilsyth.
