Most Appearances – Billy McNeill. The captain played in all Celtic's representative matches and all bar 1 (Friendly against Clydebank 6/12/67) of the Representative games and friendlies

New Arrivals and Debuts
Quite a few young new lads were brought into the club this year onto the groundstaff and these generally were loaned out and played their football with outside teams. The only two players to arrive that played with the First team were:-
Chris Shevlane – Chris was picked up when Hearts decided to release him at the end of the previous season after a long time out with a knee injury. He had to prove his fitness before being signed but the club and Jock Stein were satisfied with his fitness and he became a useful addition commonly travelling with away squads. With a superfluity of defenders and covers he was released at the end of the season (see below)
Pat McMahon – This was Pat's first season with the club having been one of the dominant strikers in Junior football with Kilsyth Rangers the previous season. He did well in the few games he played but did not like returning to the Reserves.
The new arrivals to the Groundstaff were:-
Kenny Dalglish and Danny McGrain – both made appearances as subs in Friendlies this season
Billy Murdoch (Inside Right – Bobby Murdoch's younger brother) came from Kilsyth Rangers; Jim Harkins (GK) was from Renfrew Juniors; Tony McBride – an extremely gifted outside right came from Glasgow Amateurs; Vic Davidson was provisionally signed from Ashfield and would take his full place the next season; Fred Pethard (FB) was signed (and continued to play for) Cumbernauld Utd which was also Kenny Dalglish's club at the time; Tony O'Brien (no info), John Hemphill (IR) was provisionally signed to start next season from Port Glasgow Juniors; John Murray (RB) but no further info; and right at the end of the season Bobby Wraith (GK) was also signed after impressing in the Junior international for Scotland against England. It's likely that Paul Wilson was either signed on the Groundstaff or provisionally signed to start next season.
Departures:
At the end of the season Chris Shevlane and Ian Young were both released and allowed to seek new contracts elsewhere.
Ian Young had been a regular right back but with Gemmell's versatility and Jim Craig available and back ups too, the club believed the best for him was to seek first team football elsewhere.
Of the Reserves and backup players, Tony Taylor moved to Morton, Sam Henderson joined Stirling Albion and John Taggart was released and went to Stranraer.
Jim Harkins was released from the Groundstaff and went on to Dumbarton; Hugh McKellar went to Kilmarnock; Fred Pethard left for Cardiff City where he really established himself
