From The Kano Foundation Website
Who are we?
The Kano Foundation is a group of volunteers working to help young children.
What do we do ? We are working in in partnership with Celtic Football Club to offer a match-day experience at Celtic Park to a range of children’s groups.
What do you do ? Check out this website, and , if you are interested , download , complete and return the application form available on the website. This form contains the basic info needed to begin the process.
Is this a legitimate offer? Yes it is. In fact , enclosed is a letter of confirmation from Celtic FC confirming that we have the seats to give away and that they fully support the initiative.
What does it cost you/your organisation ? Nothing. Well that depends on how you can get the children to the stadium. We will provide the tickets to allow your party (up to 41 children + 7 adult helpers) into the ground. You will be met by one of our volunteers and shown to your seats. The volunteer will be available throughout the match to help with any issues you may have.
Who are the volunteers? Like us , they are Celtic fans who just want to help out. The volunteers work on a rota system and cover approx 2-3 games each per season. They are all fully SCRO checked and have completed full Disclosure Scotland checks.
What game will the children get to go to ? That hasn’t been scheduled yet. What we can tell you is that we will not be able to take the children to any Celtic-Rangers game. Under the agreement we have with Celtic FC , the seats allocated to us are in the Lisbon Lions (East) stand – these seats are allocated to visiting fans for the aforementioned games.
We cannot guarantee a particular date (especially as television commitments can cause the game to be moved).
What we will try to do is contact successful applicants approx 4 weeks before their game.
This notice period will vary according to the time of the season (ie start of season , post-split).
What happens now? Once we have received your application , and if you are successful , we will contact you to offer a date/range of dates to choose from. You will be required to ensure that you have complied with all requirements and that any helpers you provide have completed all the necessary checks.

This week Eddie is joined by John Paul Gilmartin, the chair of the Kano Foundation. After a quick review of the recent events this preseason and an almost convincing plea for clemency for Samaras John Paul discusses the Foundation. He talks of the inspiration and the philosophy behind the Foundation, the desire to ensure that those children less fortunate have the opportunity to attend Celtic Park, the logistics behind creating a foundation of this type and what he hopes the future may bring for the foundation. You can donate to the Kano Foundation at www.thekanofoundation.com. They can also be found on facebook.
