Biog

Powerful centre half from Billy McNeill country, identified and handed schoolboy forms as a 13 year-old.

Excelled within the CBC stable while captaining the sides and winning Scottish schoolboy recognition. Was then taken on full-time at sixteen in May 1992 and drafted into the Youth (U18) Team. The following season captained the Youths and started to get Reserve team run-outs.

Handed a pro contract at the end of the season and moved up to the reserves for 1994/95. But saw his chances restricted by a serious foot injury and a backlog of Reserve team central defenders: Jim Slavin, Barry Smith, Malky Mackay were joined by Declan Boyle in January. Mark McNally also ended the season consigned to the second string, while guys like Graeme Morrison were themselves breaking through from the Youths.

Gerry was released in May 1995 and is thought to have retired from the game.
