Willie Maley Scottish Cup Medal

The Scottish Cup Medal, measuring approximately 1.1” x 2”, awarded to Willie Maley (1868-1958) who was the coach of Celtic Football Club for 43 years between 1897 and 1940. The reverse of the medal is engraved “Scottish Cup. 1936-37. Won by Celtic F.C. W. Maley.”
The medal originates from the collection of James Carmichael (1894-1966), a former Independent Labour Party politician who succeeded James Maxton as MP for Bridgeton, Glasgow. Carmichael, an avid Celtic F.C. fan, was given the medal by Willie Maley who happened to be a good friend of his. The medal has been in the Carmichael family ever since.

The medal will sell at PFC Auctions online auction from 6th September 2012 – 27th September 2012.
