Pat Stanton Testimonial
I have a pic of the programme for this match played at Easter Road on Sunday 30 April 1978; the game finished 2-1 to Hibs.
How do I make a new page?

Dubious date
I'm sceptical that this is a '55 game for several reasons:-
1) John Higgins was definetly out of the frame to play in this game. he'd just undergone cartilage surgery 2) I can find no record of it in the newspaper archives 3) Willie fernie was also out injured at this time 4) The team line up looks like a '56 team and I think the likelihood is that this is 7/4/56. 31/3/56 against Airdrie reads beattie, haughney, meechan, Goldie, Evans, Peacock, McAlindon, Collins, Mochan, Fernie, Tully 10/4/56 v Aberdeen reads beattie, Haughney, Fallon, Goldie, Evans, Peacock, McAlindon, Craig, Mochan, Fernie, Tully.
Higgins was back in the team late April '56 but Higgins' appearances are thin on the ground in '56 - he only made 7 games all league games.
Anyways.... have a look.

great photo
Charlie missed a lot of this season through injury, returning only at the end to seal the Cup and League double. Celtic's team looks like Bonnar, Haughney, Rollo, Evans, Stein, Baillie, Collins, Fernie, Hemple, Peacock, Mochan. Sam Hemple had a run of four games as centreforward about a month after this game.

great photo
i have looked real close and can't see charlie tully on the photo or did he still have his hair then. there must have been a good reason for his omission as he was the main man at that time

Did Chic Charnley not play for Celtic in a friendly pre-season against Man Utd in the mid 90's? Pretty sure Macari was the manager and he was going to sign him

Maley, McGrory and Stein together?
That's a remarkable photograph. I think I'm right in identifying Jock Stein sitting in the front row beside Willie Maley in the centre while Jimmy McGrory is at the far left. That means that all of the men who managed Celtic (in official competitions, at least) from 1897 until 1978 are pictured together here.
And since Maley played for the club from 1888 onwards, we can actually see a through line of 90 years of Celtic service. A truly historic photo.

Scottish Cup 1890-91
The club's site and 'The Essential History of Celtic' both state that the game against Dumbarton on 20th December was a quarter final and not a semi-final.

Attendance figurre
In the article it reads; "Att: 103,000 (seems wrong to me)"
In what way does it seem wrong? I remember that there was a six-figure attendance quoted for this game, as was pretty standard for major matches played at Hampden at that time. The figure of 103,000 is probably about right, as I recall.
